FLOWERS MAKE THE WINTER TOLERABLE

Green Spider Mums

Yes, these are the roses delivered on February 14. They are now 10 days old and have been cut and had a water change three times. Today was the third time. Amazing! I highly recommend Costco on line for flowers. The instore flowers do not last as long. Proper preparation when the flowers are delivered from the grower is key.

BYU MUSEUM OF ART

BYU MUSEUM OF ART

Visiting the Carl Bloch Exhibit
THE MASTER'S HAND

Summer and Aubrey were much more informed of artist and their works than I had anticipated. Their school has implimented the Meet the Masters program for all grades. Aubrey identified a Georgia O'Keefe painting that was unsigned. Both girls were interested in the media, styles, and subjects of the different paintings. Macy enjoyed identifying horses in the pictures.

The AT WAR exhibit was a series of War Posters

We had a grand Time!!!!

You may not recognize the Carl Bloch name, but his works of art have been used extensively in the LDS Church's printed material. Bloch was born in Denmark in 1834. He painted extensively of the Life of Christ in churches throughout Europe.

*Aubrey continues her fascination with my glasses. I did not realize she was wearing them until I previewed my pictures.

ELK ON OUR RANGE

One bull and two cows crossing our driveway just outside our bedroom Window

Less than 100 yards from our Home

25-50 Elk on Hillside

Elk moved quickly up and over the Ridge

Two mornings this week a herd of elk crossed in front of our home. They were in a single file line and were moving slowly and stopping to eat every few seconds. On the second morning at approximately 6:45, Chuck drew back the drapes and realized that they were back. I quickly ran for my camera and quietly moved from the house onto the deck. The crunch of my feet on the ice alerted them of my presence and they jerked to attention and quickly moved out...not running but moving with purpose. After they crossed the drive they tarried for a while eating and watching. Within 15 minutes they were over the hill and out of sight. They have not returned the last two mornings. We never tire of watching them and their movements.

MAJOR STORM

Looks are Deceiving

The Power of Mother Nature

The Missing Chair

Mary and I had lunch and saw The King's Speech (Highly Recommend) yesterday. By three o'clock the sky toward Heber was black and manacing, so I high tailed it for home. By the time I got to the Sundance turn-off, the wind was howling and light snow was whipping the car. The weather continued to worsen and by six thirty we were involved in a full scale snow storm. When I left for a meeting, I told Chuck to stay out of the living room for fear the beams would come crashing down. The weatherman was saying the winds were 85-90 mph. The singles were ripping and screaming off the roof where I was meeting and snow was slamming all the windows. However, the other women there showed little concern. When I left for home at 8:30m, the fog joined the snow and wind and I was unable to find our road until I was right on it. There appeared to be no other cars on the road that I could see and I could see no lights on the house until I was halfway up our driveway. Crazy!!! As you can tell in the picture one of the outdoor chairs slid or was thrown to the opposite end of the deck. Other than that we had no damage and today the sun is shining. So.....we are heading to Costco and on to lunch.
