WE'RE GETTING THE HOUSE READY FOR CHRISTMAS

Christmas treats for neighbors and local Friends

Chex Mix and a candy Cane

If you don't have one of these you must get one. Our family will be here for over a week and we will be cooking and serving all day long every day. I will load this silverware caddy right from the dishwasher after every meal. Christmas dinner will be the only meal where the table will be set formally. It is from Costco.

Amaryllis
Hopefully blooming by Saturday

New Display
Note the picture of Art and our Sons
Still need a Light
This table will be moved to infront of the big window each evening for the Older Children
It has two drop leaves, so it opens to seat 8 or even 10 children Comfortably

Merry Christmas

Chuck is watching the Las Vegas Bowl tonight.....Boise State and U of U. So, I am entertaining myself. When one is retired, time to be creative is a great gift.

OUR LITTLE CHILDREN COME HOME

Charles at 18 Months

Steven at 18 Months

Alisa at 18 Months

Karen at 24 Months

Jennifer at 18 Months

Soon after Charles was born in 1969, Corinne met a woman named Corinne West who was exhibiting her work at White's Art Gallery in Montrose, California. Because their names were spelled the same way, Corinne began following her work. Corinne W. was relatively unknown at the time. When Charles was 18 months old, Corinne E, commissioned Corinne W to paint a watercolor of him. The cost of the painting and the framing was less than $200. As each new grandchild turned 18 months, they were taken down to Venice, California, to Corinne W.'s new beautiful studio. Each was photographed numerous times, and over the next year they were painted. When Art was alive, he and Corinne took the children for their sitting, sometimes with the parents and sometimes without. Art died a month before Karen was born, so the trip down to the beach became the responsibility of the parents. Hence, Karen was not painted until she turned 24 months.

Over the years, 17 grandchildren were painted and lined the walls in a double row in the living room of their Grandmother's La Canada, California, home. When Corinne turned 91 and moved to an assisted living facility in Utah, the pictures came with her and a double row lined her living room walls. Today, a painting equal to Charles', would cost over $2000. Corinne West Hartley has become well known. I once saw a copy of one of her paintings on the rack at Marshall's for about $50.

With her death, the paintings have been given to their parents. We now have our five. I guess they are not returning home, because they have never lived with us. We welcome them and look forward to enjoying their little faces each morning as we exit our bedroom.

A LITTLE SNOW STORM...

5:00 PM
Last Rays of the Sun

4:50 PM
Dogs and I walk down to the Mailbox
Chuck has driven into Heber to mail your Christmas Card

7:30
A little Snowstorm blew in last Night
You can see that Chuck has already plowed the Road

I'm sure you remember those boxwoods in my first Blog
Yep, other than the firs and pines, the boxwood is the only plant in the yard that is still green

Please, have a Seat
And make yourself Comfortable

Late this Afternoon
Not a foot or paw print in Sight
On our Front Yard

I shoveled this deck at about 10:00
So that the dogs could run and play in a larger Area

I have to drive into SL in the morning, so I am praying for no snow tonight. Hwy 80 is dangerous after a snowstorm. It is a major trucking route and tandem semis just fly down that canyon. I have already gone off the road once (Remember, Linda?) so I am extremely careful. If it has snowed Chuck will drive me.

FLOWERS, FLOWERS, FLOWERS...

Jenny is extremely talented when it comes to choosing color combinations and arranging flowers. There were three vases of flowers on the Thanksgiving Table....two small and one large. The light was perfect and made these flowers look absolutely brilliant. The table was outside exposed to the Arizona Sun.

This arrangement was on the serving table in the Dining Room. I think that the cranberries
gave the base a strong, grounded appearance, as well as beautiful color. They also helped to hold the flowers upright. Fresh flowers say, "I care enough to do my very best." And I always appreciate such effort.
Thank you Jenny

IT'S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS

Welcome to our Home
Looks colder than the same shot in October, Doesn't It
6:30 PM

I love the Long Leaf Pine with Cones on the Coach Lights
Reminds me of East Texas

Gathered lots of fall berries in the woods near our Home
Took a hugh bunch of red willow sticks to Arizona for Jennifer's Urns
I love found Greens.
It reminds me of gathering pine boughs and Yupon from our front yard in Texas

You'll come on Over
I'll keep the light on for You

I haven't completed my decorations. We didn't put up the 12 foot tree this year, so I am making do with a fresh cut 7 fter on a table in the corner. It still looks like a little orphan in this hugh room... So, stay tuned.

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA...

Chuck and I traveled to Los Angeles for a memorial service for Corinne last weekend. Our five children joined us from all parts of the west. It was wonderful seeing all of them two times within a "fortnight". Chuck and I stayed in Redondo Beach at the condo of one of our dearest friends, Margie and Chris. Our children stayed over a night or two and other nights stayed with friends. Jenny's parents live in Pasadena.
