Judy Stevens
19 Years Old
Survivor adventures have been around longer than you might think, and Judy was one of the first. As a 19 year old she was invited by BYU to take part in an outdoor adventure program that they were sponsoring called Outward Bound. The program was three weeks long and was located in the wilds of southern Utah. There were approximately 25+ participants and each probably thought that they were in for a lark with a lot of other cute boys and girls.
As it turned out, the first two weeks were endless hiking, finding your own food in the wild, finding water, no showers, hot weather, insects, sleeping in the open, and knowing that the next day you would awake to do it all over again. The third week was doing all of the above, except each person was doing it all alone. Sounds like absolute hell! But, we all know that Judy is a Survivor.
Judy, I am so proud of all that you have accomplished in your life...mother of six children, teacher, librarian, two degrees earned after the age of 40, and devoted wife. Your artistic talent is evident in your beautiful "homes", gardens, paintings, and in your stylish dress.
You were beautiful at 19 and you are even more beautiful today.
Happy Birthday, Judy
I love you,
Rebecca

Dear Rebecca,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the very kind and generous post. You are very thoughtful.
I love you. Judy
This is my favorite picture of Judy. She was so awesome when she did that adventure. On the last day they had to hike out and find the base camp. Judy somehow found her way to the highway and hitch hiked in. Totally excellent survivor. These TV survivors have no idea what real grit is. You go Judy. I love you.
