VALENTINE'S DAY...........................2013

Twenty-four long stemed Red Roses
BEAUTIFUL!

These roses arrived the Tuesday before Valentines
They were beautifully packaged and arrived in excellent condition.  I cut 1 inch from each stem and placed them in warm water with preservative when we returned from our little St. George holiday on Wednesday afternoon.

On Wednesday evening two of the roses had drooping heads. I cut the stems one inch more and put them into tepid water overnight.  Thursday morning they were revived and looked beautiful.
Later on Valentine's Day these five had drooping heads and were limp.  I immediately cut the stems and placed in warm water.  Within several hours they looked as they do above.

Getting the most out of cut flowers from the florist takes vigilance and a desire to have your bouquet last as long as possible.  I believe I can keep these roses looking beautiful for at least 7 days.  Clean water and a fresh cut every couple of days will keep them looking their best. Yes, it is a pain, but the rewards are well worth the effort.

Chuck purchased these roses from Costco Online.  The tall glass vase wrapped with red satin ribbon arrived with the roses.  We love Costco!

Northern Uthans swarm to St. George by the thousands in the winter.  When it is storming in the SLC area and Heber, it can be a delightful and balmy 60 degrees in the south.  The snowbirds flock to this area in their trailers, 5th wheels, motorhomes and autos for days filled with golf, tennis, and lounging by the pool. Many people in our congregation spend the winter in these climes. Every time we go down, I spend much of my day looking for a deal we can't resist, shopping, having spa treatments, and reading while Chuck plays golf.  We are enjoying our retirement.
