This bridge is similar to the one crossing the Cooper River before entering the city of Charleston, South Carolina

Savannah was founded by General James E. Olgethorpe
in 1733.  This was the 13th and final English Colony.
The city is laid out in a series of public squares of which 22 out of the original 26 still survive.  Beautiful homes, churches, and public buildings surround the square.  The square itself is landscaped with fountains, graceful oak trees and magnificent azaleas.  The above carriage and docent relate Savannah's historic past for tourists.

  1. I love your southern history and the fabulous homes. Makes me hate Sherman even more. At least he spared Savannah because he got tired of all the fire and smoke he had spread all the way from Atlanta. The guy was a cur dog!

  2. Well maybe he got tired of the smoke or it could be it was Christmas. He left Savannah after Christmas and picked right up with his murdering, savagery, brutality and destruction.
