SAVANNAH, GEORGIA.......QUEEN OF THE SOUTH

Bridge crossing the Savannah River upon entering the city of Savannah, Georgia

This bridge is similar to the one crossing the Cooper River before entering the city of Charleston, South Carolina

Port activity began in 1744 along the Savannah River
continuing into the 1800s when Cotton was King and Tobacco was an important export for the Georgia Colony

Savannah's Bay Street

City Park along Bay Street

Savannah was founded by General James E. Olgethorpe
in 1733.  This was the 13th and final English Colony.
The city is laid out in a series of public squares of which 22 out of the original 26 still survive.  Beautiful homes, churches, and public buildings surround the square.  The square itself is landscaped with fountains, graceful oak trees and magnificent azaleas.  The above carriage and docent relate Savannah's historic past for tourists.

SOUTHERN ARCHITECTURE......HOMES AND CHURCHES

I am a lover of beautiful design.  All of the buildings on this post are of no particular consequence.  On our recent visit to Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina, we chose to travel the back roads instead of the interstate.  We passed these homes and churches as we traveled two lane roads from Jacksonville, Florida to Ashville, North Carolina.  What a pleasure!

ADAGE DANCE STUDIO......SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA

Skyler

Recital in Paradise Valley, Arizona
June 1, 2013

Lion King Production
Beautiful Dancer

She is a Leader

Two of her biggest Fans

Skyler is kind and supportive of others.  She is respectful to her dance teachers and other professionals. During the recital, Skyler was recognized by her studio for these qualities and was presented with a scholarship for the upcoming season.

Jennifer and Craigs were in the audience to lend support as were her parents and brothers. I was thrilled to watch and know that this amazing young woman was my granddaughter.

One big disappointment was that my camera was not functioning at 100%.  So....... all of my family pictures were not in focus.  I feel lucky that I was able to salvage the above shots of this adorable child.

Skyler, Poppy and I love you.  Thanks you for inviting me to your   dance recital.  Each year you show such improvement .....can't wait to see what the future holds for you.
